India

INDIA

A trip to Incredible India seems like a trip to several micro countries.  Each region has it’s own segregated food, culture, language, and mannerisms.  In these photos you will see portraits and scenery from Varanasi, Agra, Delhi, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer.

VARANASI- The grey-green greasy Ganges, flows through Varanasi, aka Kashi or Benares, the holiest city of Hinduism. Life is raw and uncensored here, as pilgrims from across India bathe in the holy waters… For those who die in Varanasi are released from the cycle of reincarnation and achieve Nirvana.

AGRA- Home of the Taj Majal, a labor of love described as a teardrop suspended on the face of time.  Mughal Architecture abounds in this city.

JODHPUR- The Brahmin-Blue painted city was painted so to distinguish the members of the highest caste, and to ward off insects. The unconquered  Mehrangarh Fort looms over the city.

JAISALMER- Cameleers live less than 50km from the Indian/Pakistani border, and still rely on the animals for their livelihood.  The Fortress of Jaisalmer rises out of the desert like a sand castle over an oasis, testate to the unbowing rulers of Rajistan, Land of Kings.
